This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Maltese law. What we collect
- Booking details: your name, email, phone number (optional), vehicle, dates and pick-up location.
- Payment: the deposit is paid by card through Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number from the online payment.
- At pick-up: your driving licence and ID details, and a credit or Visa card number kept as security for fines or damage.
- Messages: what you send us by WhatsApp, email or phone.
Why we use it
- To take and manage your booking and rental (contract).
- To meet legal obligations, such as accounting and traffic-fine requirements (legal obligation).
- To protect our vehicles and handle damage or fines (legitimate interest).
We do not sell your data and we do not send marketing unless you ask us to.
Who we share it with
- Bókun — our online booking system.
- Stripe — card payments for the deposit.
- Cloudflare — website hosting and security.
- Google (Gmail) and WhatsApp — when you email or message us.
- Insurers, the police or authorities — only where needed for an accident, damage, theft or a fine, or where the law requires it.
Some of these providers may process data outside the EU under safeguards approved by the European Commission.
How long we keep it
We keep booking and rental records for as long as needed for the rental and then for as long as the law requires, for example for accounting. Security card details are deleted once the rental is closed and any fines or damage are settled.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The booking checkout, provided by Bókun, uses cookies that are needed to hold your booking while you complete it.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to receive a copy. Email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC) in Malta.
